Independence Day is just around the corner...

Independence Day is just around the corner and we still have a glorious multitude of beautiful wildflowers sprinkled throughout our meadows hiding in among all of the different grasses that abound here. Some native, some introduced by those who went before us and established various agricultural endeavors where we now build our homes. History is all around us - a nineteenth century horse barn or two, sheep pens, a school house, iron pins set in hard rock as ties for the dog hole schooners that plied the coast during the Gold Rush, ancient cypress hedgerows, a discarded logging cable, the remnants of a century old orchard, a broken fence, and, very occasionally, flowers that escaped from someone’s garden many decades ago. These reminders of the past, combined with the magnificent beauty of the present, intensify the wonder of this place that we call home. Add in a spectacular seacoast, award winning architecture, friendly people, and some of the best weather that you can possibly imagine, and you will begin to understand why those of us, who are fortunate enough to call this place home, love it so.

The real estate market here in The Sea Ranch is very active at the moment. People’s lives are in constant motion and that fact sometimes necessitates a change in residence which, in turn, provides opportunity for others to buy into this very small community. I make it a priority to familiarize myself with every single residence and building site that comes on the market as soon as it appears in the listings and have been doing so since the last century. As noted in the chart above, I keep a close watch on property value over time. I know this market very well and make my extensive knowledge available to my clients. Because my wife and I built our own home and have watched others build and remodel theirs, we know a great deal about the crafts people in the local building trades. We understand the local microclimates and can help make our clients aware of aspects of each of our various, very different, neighborhoods that are not readily apparent to someone who has not lived here during a complete cycle of seasons. Because we are long time members of the community, we know how the challenges of daily life are handled (to include finding the very best local pizza, salmon, vegetables, and pastries).

Give me a call when you next have a moment and let me know when you can make a visit. I would love to answer your questions and perhaps show you how we can become neighbors.

PS: If you have a moment, visit us on Facebook, where we are posting a series of informative snapshots of life here on the Northern California Coast.
